In a tragic pedestrian accident in Agua Dulce, an elderly man, identified as a 75-year-old resident of the area, was killed on Tuesday. He was struck by a train while using a walker.
According to witnesses, the man was crossing the tracks when the arms were down. Nueces County Pct. 5 Constable Oscar Mendoza and his deputies, along with the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office and DPS, responded to the fatal crash on County Road 70.
The Railroad Commission has also joined the investigation. The man was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.
FM 70 is temporarily closed in the vicinity, affecting traffic flow, and the crossing at FM 70 and CR 38 in Agua Dulce will remain blocked for several hours.
