According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported on Tuesday evening in Weslaco.
Officials confirmed that one person died due to the accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on FM 88 North of Mile 11.
The deceased person was identified as 75-year-old Jesus Maldonado.
Maldonado was crossing westwards when he was struck by a red Ford Mustang that was heading northbound.
Maldonado was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
The officials have not disclosed the identity of the driver.
No other details pertaining to the accident have been revealed yet.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
The crash continues to be investigated by the TPD.
