A tragic motor vehicle accident unfolded in Agua Dulce on Tuesday as a 75-year-old man, identified as Erasmo Castillo lost his life after being struck by a train.
The Nueces County Pct. 5 Constable, Oscar Mendoza, confirmed that Castillo, an elderly resident of Agua Dulce, was using a walker at the time of the collision. The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Castillo on Thursday.
According to Constable Mendoza, the collision occurred when Castillo attempted to cross the tracks while the railroad crossing arms were down. Unfortunately, he was struck and fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
This fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. There are no other details available.
