A fatal collision that occurred last week has prompted an investigation by the Richardson Police Department. At approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a multi-vehicle accident in the 3800 block of N. Central Expwy.
A Toyota Sequoia, travelling northbound, changed lanes and collided with the rear of a Nissan Versa in the left lane. Preliminary reports suggest the Nissan may have been disabled or moving at a low speed at the time of the incident.
The Nissan driver, identified as 74-year-old Miriam Mazhindu of Dallas, Texas, was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Toyota driver sustained serious injuries and was also taken to the hospital, with expectations of recovery. The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
