The Plano Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Monday morning. The accident happened at the Preston Road and Lorimar Road intersection at around 6:51 a.m.
A 73-year-old pedestrian, Plano resident Joseph Orchowski was struck on the road by a car that was traveling south on Preston. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators think the pedestrian was crossing the street outside of the designated pedestrian crossing and that the car had the go-ahead to keep going. Police stated that the motorist made an effort to avoid hitting the pedestrian and that speed was not a contributing factor in the collision. The motorist was not penalized for the fatal crash.
