73-Year-Old Eric Bates Killed In A Motorcycle Crash In Mackinaw (Mackinaw, MI)

A tragic motorcycle crash claimed the life of Eric Bates, a 73-year-old Towanda resident, on Monday in rural Mackinaw. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Townline and Boston School roads, situated between Mackinaw and Stanford.

Bates was pronounced dead at the scene, with preliminary autopsy results indicating blunt force injuries from a collision between his motorcycle and another vehicle, according to Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley.

The events leading up to the crash are not entirely clear at this time. Toxicology testing is underway, and investigations by the Tazewell County sheriff’s and coroner’s offices are ongoing. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
