The Tucson Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash in Tucson on Friday evening.
TPD was called to a collision between a gray 1996 Honda Accord and a pedestrian close to West Miracle Mile and North El Burrito Avenue. The pedestrian, Charlene Rose Elich, 72 was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives claim that when Elich was struck by the Honda Accord, it was doing a westbound turn on West Miracle Mile as she crossed from south to north. The Honda Accord’s driver pulled over and assisted with the investigation.
The driver was not impaired at the time of the collision.
The mid-block crossing has been identified as the primary contributing factor in the collision. Elich had reportedly consumed alcohol before the collision, according to TPD.
The fatal collision is still being investigated.
