The Temple Police Department is probing a fatal crash that occurred on I-35 near exit 306, resulting in the death of a 72-year-old woman on Thursday, March 7. Identified as Victoria Beluso Aranas of Vicksburg, Mississippi, by Temple PD on Friday, the incident unfolded around 8 a.m.
Investigations revealed that the woman’s car, experiencing mechanical issues, was stationary in the middle lane when it was struck from behind by an 18-wheeler. Temple PD diverted traffic from I-35 onto Exit 305 for several hours as officers conducted their inquiries.
The highway has since reopened, but the investigation into the crash continues.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the multi-vehicle accident.
