On Monday, a 71-year-old woman, from Norton Shores, suffered injuries after her vehicle struck utility poles in Polkton Township.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the intersection of Leonard and Church Streets at about 6:12 a.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation showed that the woman was driving an eastbound 2016 Hyundai Elantra when the car drifted off the road and struck utility poles and a large landscape rock.
Officers were initially informed that a woman was unconscious in the vehicle and utility poles and lines were down in the roadway. When responders arrived, the driver had regained consciousness. She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Leonard Street was shut down west of 68th Avenue while Consumers Energy worked to deenergize the power lines and rearrange the poles. The road has since reopened, officials reported. No additional information has been provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
