A fatal collision involving two 18-wheelers occurred at FM 1314 and Exxon Road southeast of Conroe on Monday, resulting in one fatality. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the accident occurred at around 4:10 a.m.
A 2021 Freightliner semitractor trailer travelling south on FM 1314 veered into the northbound lane. This caused it to collide with a 2020 Mack semitractor-trailer heading north.
Vincente Pena, identified as a 71-year-old resident of Houston and the Mack truck driver, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the multi-vehicle accident by Montgomery County Hospital District first responders.
The Freightliner driver was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe in serious condition. The DPS is conducting an investigation into the fatal crash.
