Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal crash on Highway 73 as 71-year-old Paula Long of Winnie. The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that the incident occurred at the intersection of Highway 73 and Englin Road.
Preliminary investigations suggest that around 4:49 p.m. on Tuesday, a Ram 1500 travelling west on Highway 73 collided with a Toyota Camry travelling north on Englin Road after Long, the Toyota’s driver, failed to yield to the Ram.
Long was fatally struck in the crash. The driver of the Ram, identified as 48-year-old Crispin Esparza of Houston, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Troopers continue to investigate the multi-vehicle accident.
