A tragic one-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Williamsfield Township man on Friday night, as reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OHP). James E. Bennett, 71, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on Route 6 when it veered off the right side of the road.

The truck struck a drainage culvert and a utility pole before rolling over, ejecting Bennett from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred at 7:23 p.m., east of Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road.

Responding to the incident were the Andover Fire Department, North Shenango Fire Department, Community Care Ambulance, and Andover Police Department. A dog in the vehicle survived and was taken by the Ashtabula County Dog Warden.
