The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash in El Cajon. A woman was driving a northbound Infiniti sedan when she collided with a westbound Olde Highway 80 vehicle, according to the San Diego Department of the Medical Examiner.
Police found that the accident victim was seriously injured and unresponsive. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, which included surgery.
Her condition deteriorated further while she was hospitalized, and on May 16 at around 1 a.m., medical staff declared her dead. The Medical Examiner determined that she died from a blunt force injury.
The Department of the Medical Examiner identified her as Marilynn Asch, 70 a resident of El Cajon. The California Highway Patrol is still looking into the fatal crash.
