The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Carson County on Thursday evening. The accident occurred on State Highway 207, near Panhandle at around 6:52 p.m.
According to the officials, a 2016 Mack truck tractor was headed south while towing a semi-trailer. At the same time, a 2009 Lincoln Town Car was headed north. The Lincoln failed to yield the right-of-way and tried to turn left onto the I-40. This put it in the path of the Mack and the two collided.
The driver of the Lincoln was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victim as 70-year-old Cyrys Wingate.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
