A tragic crash in east El Paso claimed the life of one person yesterday morning, as confirmed by the El Paso Police Department on Friday. Silvia Resendiz Alonzo, 69, passed away at the hospital on Thursday following a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of Montwood Drive and Seagull Drive.
According to an EPPD press release, Alonzo’s vehicle was “t-boned” by a truck while she attempted to make a left turn into the intersection. Despite efforts by Fire Medical Services to save her, Alonzo succumbed to her injuries.
The initial investigation by EPPD’s Special Traffic Investigations unit revealed that Alonzo’s failure to yield the right of way and the speed of the truck driver both played a role in the fatal crash.
