A tragic motor vehicle accident occurred within the open desert terrain of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (Glamis). A 69-year-old man lost his life and a 65-year-old woman sustained injuries.
A 2018 Can-Am Maverick overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The unfortunate event occurred on Friday, November 24, in the afternoon. The driver encountered a sudden drop in the terrain, causing the Can-Am to overturn.
Despite both occupants wearing helmets and safety restraints, the 69-year-old man was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not yet known.
The 65-year-old woman, who sustained minor injuries, was promptly taken to Pioneer’s Memorial Hospital in Brawley, California. The fatal crash is currently under investigation by CHP.
