Tragedy struck on Friday night near Cuney on Highway 175, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries in a three-vehicle collision. According to Cherokee County Justice of the Peace Rodney Wallace, the multi-vehicle accident occurred when one vehicle illegally crossed lanes, leading to a collision and subsequent rollover.
A 69-year-old man and a 28-year-old man were fatally injured in the fatal crash due to the impact. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time. The passenger of the 28-year-old is in critical condition and was airlifted to Tyler for surgery. An infant from the same vehicle was flown to Dallas for treatment.
Four additional passengers in the third vehicle were transported by ground ambulance to UT Jacksonville for injuries.
