According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, a fatal crash was reported on Friday in Las Vegas.
Officials confirmed that one person died due to the pedestrian accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred at the intersection of South Las Vegas Boulevard and East Agate Avenue.
A 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV was traveling northbound.
A pedestrian operating a motorized wheelchair attempted to cross from east to west using an unmarked implied crosswalk.
While doing so, the Hyundai entered the intersection and struck the wheelchair.
This ejected the wheelchair operator into the roadway.
The pedestrian was immediately transported to University Medical Center’s Trauma in serious condition.
However, the pedestrian later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Impairment was not believed to be a factor that led to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation by the LVMP.
