Tragedy struck on Sunday morning in San Carlos as 69-year-old Breen Mullins of Redwood City lost his life in a fatal collision. The multi-vehicle accident occurred just before 7 a.m. on the 1400 block of El Camino Real, near Belmont Avenue.
A 27-year-old driver from Redwood City, heading north on El Camino Real, initially struck Mullins. Authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors, and the driver cooperated with law enforcement at the fatal crash site.
Subsequently, a second vehicle, driven by 66-year-old Hok Gwan Jong of San Mateo, struck the victim and fled the scene. He was later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
Despite paramedics’ resuscitation efforts, Mullins was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
