The Texas Department of Transportation reported a motor vehicle accident in Lufkin last Monday. The accident occurred on Sayers Street and Ellen Trout Drive at around 6:24 p.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. One vehicle was headed north on Sayers Street when it failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign., this caused it to go into the path of a Ford F-150 that was headed west.
The driver of the first vehicle was critically injured and taken to a local hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries two days later and was pronounced dead. The officials have identified her as 68-year-old Mary Greer.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
