In a tragic hit-and-run incident, a 68-year-old man, identified as John Guerra lost his life on Monday due to injuries sustained in a collision the previous day. Corpus Christi Police Department responded to the incident on Gollihar Road at 7:10 p.m. Sunday.
They discovered Guerra, who had been struck by an unknown car that fled the scene. Guerra was critically injured and was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to blunt-force trauma injuries and was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, he was pushing a shopping cart outside the crosswalk and crossing the street in the dark. The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash are under investigation. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the hit-and-run accident.
