The California Highway Patrol reported a single-vehicle accident on Tuesday. The accident occurred in the 4200 block of Corral Canyon Road just before 9:30 a.m.
According to the officials, a man was driving his Nissan SUV north on the road when he lost control of his vehicle and swerved off the roadway. The vehicle then hit one house and crashed into another before coming to a rest.
The driver of the vehicle, identified only as a 68-year-old Bonita resident, incurred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of the family.
The cause of the fatal accident is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. There are no other details available at this time.
