According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Wednesday night in Lake County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the pedestrian accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Highway 20, west of Benton Avenue. A pedestrian was walking across the highway when she was struck by a 1995 Buick. The driver of the Buick was identified as 56-year-old Dawn Marie Johnson.
The 67-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The reason for the pedestrian walking in the car’s back remains unknown. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
