On Monday evening, 67-year-old Kris E Picard, from Hermiston, suffered injuries following a traffic collision in western Walla Walla County.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident took place at around 6:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 12. The preliminary investigation revealed that Kris E Picard was driving his 2000 Toyota Tundra pickup over the center line when it crashed into an eastbound semi-truck that was traveling in the opposite direction.
On arrival, paramedics took Picard to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco with unspecified injuries. His current condition is not available at this time. 55-year-old Rebecca S Jones from Connell was driving the semi-truck and she remained uninjured in the accident. She called 911 to inform about the crash. Both vehicles were wrecked due to the accident.
According to the officials, there was no damage to the roadway or guardrails. The officials shut down the main connector route between Walla Walla and the Tri-Cities for two hours in both directions as crews worked at the scene. Both lanes of the highway were shut down from approximately 6:40 p.m. to about 8:40 p.m. The westbound lane remained blocked for another hour. No additional details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
