67-year-old Alviro Selam injured after a hit-and-run crash in Wapato (Wapato, WA)

Authorities identified 67-year-old Alviro Selam as the man who suffered injuries following an auto-pedestrian collision Friday in Wapato.

The hit-and-run crash took place at about 10 p.m. on State Route 97. According to the investigation reports, an unknown vehicle was going northbound when it hit a pedestrian who was standing on State Route 97 at milepost 63.

The driver of the involved vehicle reportedly drove away from the scene after the collision. The extent of Selam’s injuries is not known but he was taken to the local hospital for treatment. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under active review.
