A tragic incident unfolded in Cathedral City as a 66-year-old resident lost his life after being struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian accident occurred around 10:16 p.m. on Sunday on Date Palm Drive near Victoria Road. 

Despite prompt police response, the pedestrian was found fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time.

The Cathedral City Police Department’s traffic unit took over the investigation and determined that the pedestrian was at fault. The driver of the vehicle involved did not exhibit any signs of alcohol or drug involvement. 

The Riverside County coroner’s office identified the deceased as a 66-year-old Cathedral City resident. The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
