A tragedy struck on Interstate 10 near Cactus City as a 66-year-old man from Florida succumbed to injuries sustained in a fatal crash involving a lemon juice tanker. The pedestrian accident occurred on Wednesday around 6:45 a.m. on the eastbound I-10, west of the Cactus City rest stop.
A 40-foot tanker carrying lemon juice overturned, prompting authorities to issue a Sigalert and request assistance to siphon out the lemon juice. Joel Grimes, 66, of Lake Wales, Florida, was hospitalized following the crash and tragically passed away on Monday, just after noon.
The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation continues into this incident.
