The Pala Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash in the night. The accident happened on State Route 76 at around 9:10 p.m.
A man who has since been identified as Manh Bangvan Nguyen, 65 was driving a Lexus GS-350 when a Toyota Camry travelling eastbound on SR-76 veered into the westbound lane of the road and collided with it east of Magee Road. A Jeep sport utility vehicle also struck the Lexus’s rear.
According to the CHP, Nguyen was declared dead at the scene, while the drivers of the Toyota and Jeep, along with two of their passengers, were taken to a hospital with injuries.
According to authorities, the Toyota’s driver, Bianca Anahy Hernandez, was detained on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. The San Diego County Vista Detention Facility received her booking and took her in for the fatal crash.
