A multi-vehicle accident in Fresno County on Tuesday claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman, identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday as Elida Fernandez. The initial report from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) mistakenly stated her age as 76.
According to CHP, Fernandez was driving on Dickinson Avenue towards Barstow Avenue, while a 45-year-old man approached Barstow Avenue. Despite stop signs on Dickinson Avenue, Fernandez failed to yield and entered the path of the other vehicle, resulting in a collision that caused significant damage, including one vehicle overturning.
Sadly, Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Investigations into the fatal crash continue to determine further details.
