According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Monday in Pittsburg. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on westbound Highway 12, at Jackson Slough Road. A recreational vehicle ran into a ditch.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 64-year-old Romeo Rones. Rones was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
Other insights pertaining to the accident are pending determination. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
