According to the Lufkin Police Department, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday in Lufkin.

Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.

Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Southwood Drive.

A man driving a Ford was going southbound when he lost control of the vehicle and left the road. His car flipped several times before coming to a halt.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 64-year-old Erie Downs. Downs was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

No further details were released by the officials. The cause of the wreck remains unclear. The crash continues to be investigated by the LPD.
