The Texas Department of Public Safety reported an early morning crash near Loop 338 and Hammett Drive in Odessa. One person was killed in the crash and has been identified as 64-year-old Delfino Acosta-Contreras.
The multi-vehicle accident occurred around 6:05 a.m. on November 14. Acosta-Contreras was travelling westbound on Hammett Drive in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. He disregarded a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the trailer of a northbound semi-truck.
Subsequently, he crossed into the southbound lanes and was struck by another oncoming semi-truck. Acosta-Contreras was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The fatal crash remains under investigation, and the drivers of both semi-trucks involved were unharmed.
