A tragic seven-vehicle crash, occurring during a dust storm, has left one person dead and several others injured, prompting an investigation by the New Mexico State Police. The multi-vehicle accident unfolded around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 285 and East Orchard Park Road, just south of Roswell.
As the National Weather Service issued a Dust Storm Warning for the area, chaos ensued. A Ford pickup truck’s attempt to cross U.S. 285 resulted in a collision with a Ram pickup truck, leaving both vehicles disabled on the northbound lanes.
Tragically, a 64-year-old man, identified as David Pedroza of Roswell, was killed when his Ford pickup truck was struck by a Nissan SUV. His 49-year-old passenger sustained injuries of unknown severity. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities piece together the details surrounding this devastating fatal crash.
