64-Year-Old Daniel Trevarthen Killed In A Pedestrian Accident In Modesto (Modesto, CA)

A tragic pedestrian collision claimed the life of a 64-year-old Modesto man, identified as Daniel Trevarthen. The accident occurred at the 300 block of Santa Cruz Avenue Thursday morning.

The California Highway Patrol received the call around 6 a.m. First responders discovered Trevarthen lying unresponsive in the southbound lane of Santa Cruz near Mono Drive. Trevarthen was fatally injured in the pedestrian accident and was pronounced dead.

Preliminary findings indicate a white Chevrolet SUV was travelling southbound on Santa Cruz, approaching Mono. Trevarthen, in a wheelchair, entered the intersection without a marked crosswalk.

The fatal crash was unavoidable, and it remains unclear if alcohol or drugs played a role.
