63-Year-Old Thomas Swaggard Killed In A Motor Vehicle Crash In Lake Charles (Lake Charles, LA)

A tragic single-vehicle accident claimed the life of Thomas Swaggard, 63, of Lake Charles, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the crash on Saturday, April 6, around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of W. Gauthier Road and Sun Meadow Lane.

Swaggard was driving westbound on Gauthier Road when his truck veered off the road and struck a culvert. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Swaggard was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. 

Authorities suspect speeding as the primary cause of the crash, though they do not believe Swaggard was impaired at the time. The coroner’s investigation into Swaggard’s cause of death is ongoing.
