The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a pedestrian accident in Corpus Christi on February 5. The fatal collision occurred around 7:20 p.m. on FM 624 and FM 666 in Texas.
According to the authorities, Artemio Calles Torres, 63, was attempting to rescue his dog from a busy roadway. The man was trying to retrieve his dog from the westbound lane when he was struck by a Jeep Gladiator. Despite the driver’s efforts to stop and avoid Torres, the collision proved detrimental. The victim was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal crash remains under investigation by DPS to ascertain further details. The driver of the Jeep has reportedly been cooperative. Other motorists stopped to render aid and notified authorities of the accident.
