The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Indio on Friday. The accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 and Garnet Avenue at around 1:34 a.m.
According to the officials, a 2016 Ford Flex was headed east on the highway. The vehicle had made an unsafe turn to the right before driving onto the south shoulder. The vehicle then overturned before coming to a rest on its left side on Garnet Avenue.
The driver of the vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victim as 63-year-old Anthony Sebastian.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
