The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Petaluma on Tuesday. The accident occurred on State Route 116, just before 7 p.m.
According to the officials, a Freightliner box van was headed east when it drifted into the path of a blue Chevrolet Camaro. The van then side-swept a 2016 Lexus before colliding head-on with the Camaro and crashing into a 2018 Jeep Patriot.
The driver of the Camaro was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 63-year-old Anthony Scott. The occupants of the other vehicles incurred moderate to mild injuries.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
