According to the Lafayette Police Department, a pedestrian crash that took place in Lafayette claimed the life of 63-year-old Anthony Derouen on Friday.
Roughly at 12:50 a.m., Derouen, walking in the 1400 block of SW Evangeline Thruway, was struck by a vehicle that was traveling in the same lane. As a result, Derouen was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the authorities.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
