On Tuesday, 62-year-old Russell Cessac, a resident of Nederland, was killed less than a week after being involved in a two-vehicle collision in Nederland.
Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter confirmed that Russell Cessac died of his injuries on Tuesday afternoon. Officials have not issued any citations regarding the collision as of this moment. As per the preliminary reports, the Nederland motorcyclist was exiting a convenience store at around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 in the 1900 block of Helena Avenue when he pulled out in front of a 2020 Honda Fit.
The car was driven by a Port Arthur woman and there was a male passenger inside at that time. Both the occupants of the vehicle remain unharmed. Police stated that Cessac was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Reports revealed that the crash happened very close to the victim’s home. The occupants of the Honda are cooperating with the authorities.
An investigation is ongoing.
