According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 62-year-old man, identified as James Frank Gillon, was killed in a motor vehicle accident in Lubbock County on Sunday.
At around 9:20 p.m., Gillion was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 62. The vehicle struck a 2018 Peterbilt Module truck that was travelling westbound on U.S. 62. The truck was attempting to make a turn onto County Road 3800.
The driver of the Nissan was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have reported that the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash which apparently played a role.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
