62-year-old James Anthony Cormier killed after a single-vehicle wreck in Acadia Parish (Acadia Parish, LA)

Authorities identified 62-year-old James Anthony Cormier, from Crowley, as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle wreck Sunday in Acadia Parish.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the area of Hwy 13 north of Hwy 370 at about 8 a.m. on reports of a semi-truck crash. The preliminary investigation showed that James Anthony Cormier was driving north on LA 13 in an 18-wheeler.

For unknown reasons, Cormier lost control of the semi-truck in the curve after which it went off the roadway to the right. The 18-wheeler crashed into a utility pole and rolled over. Cormier was declared dead at the scene. He was buckled up at the time of the collision. A standard toxicology sample was taken for analysis. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
