62-year-old Deborah Abata of Santa Rosa sustained critical injuries in a deadly head-on crash on Highway 29 on Monday.
The lethal accident took place just after 10 a.m. in south of Larkmead Lane. Officers added that a southbound Subaru driver crossed over the centerline. Then, it went into the path of a northbound Infiniti. Resultantly, a 64-year-old Santa Rosa man, the Infiniti driver died at the scene. However, his passenger Abata suffered major injuries.
Afterwards, rescuers rushed a 30-year-old Philip Popick, the Subaru driver, of Calistoga to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with critical injuries. Officers arrested him for suspected felony DUI — drugs, causing severe injuries.
The crash is under review.
