A tragic two-vehicle crash on Sunday morning claimed the life of a Santa Rosa woman on state Highway 242 near Concord, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol and the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office.
The fatal multi-vehicle accident occurred at 7:36 a.m. on southbound SR-242, south of Clayton Road. According to preliminary investigations by the CHP, a BMW SUV and a Ford sedan, each with one occupant, collided while travelling southbound on SR-242.
The driver of the Ford, identified as Cassandra Spain, 62, of Santa Rosa, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the BMW escaped unharmed. The fatal crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
