61-year-old Timothy Splinter dead after an auto-pedestrian crash in Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ)

Officials identified 61-year-old Timothy Splinter as the man who lost his life after being struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning in Phoenix.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place near 35th Avenue and McDowell Road at about 4:30 a.m. The early reports showed that a vehicle hit the man while he was crossing the road midblock for undetermined reasons.

The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.  Speed and impairment are not believed to be involved in the crash. It is unclear if the driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene or not after the collision. No other information has been provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
