A tragedy struck on Monday, just before 4 p.m., at the intersection of SH 119 and Sunday Lane. According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in a crash. A motorcycle collided with a dump truck.
According to a spokesperson from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the dump truck, heading north on SH 119, failed to yield the right of way while attempting to make a left turn onto Sunday Lane. The motorcyclist has been identified as 61-year-old Michael John Flechsig from El Campo. He was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the motorcycle accident.
