Mark Andrew Morales, 61, of McFarland, was identified as the victim of a hit-and-run accident just east of Delano on November 17. The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident at the intersection of Benner Avenue and Schuster Road. 

According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in a collision. A 2007 Cadillac collided with a 2018 Ford. The impact sent the Ford out of control, striking Morales, who was checking his mailbox near his parked Chevrolet.

Morales was critically injured and was transported to Kern Medical Center. Unfortunately, Morales succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on November 19 at 12:33 a.m.

The involvement of alcohol or drugs in the fatal crash remains unknown. The Cadillac driver fled the scene.
