According to the Midtown officers, a motor-vehicle crash occurred in Nashville on Tuesday.
The crash happened on Nolensville Pike after a pickup truck hit a pedestrian and then crashed further down the road.
A pickup truck driven by 61-year-old Marion Douglas Jr hit one of the crew members near the Oliver Middle School campus.
The injured pedestrian was rushed to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in stable condition.
According to the officials, the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove into a woodline ditch crashing a telephone pole.
The 61-year-old Marion Douglas Jr was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officials are investigating whether medical issues or impairment played a factor in the crash.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
