According to the California Highway Patrol, a motor vehicle accident occurred in Pine Valley on Wednesday. The crash happened on Interstate 8 at around 7:30 a.m.
According to the investigators, a 2016 Chrysler 200 and a 61-year-old were involved in the collision. The Chrysler driver traveling at a high rate of speed lost control of his vehicle, veered right, and subsequently overturned several times.
A 61-year-old man was identified as the Infiniti driver who suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the man has not been disclosed at this time.
Some portions of Interstate 8 are blocked for further investigation. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
