Randy A. Beasley, 60, of Marshall, has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash that occurred last week in Panola County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The incident occurred around 4:16 p.m. on Thursday at FM 9 and U.S. 79 intersection, approximately five miles northeast of DeBerry. Preliminary investigations indicate that Beasley’s vehicle, facing south, failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming 18-wheeler travelling southwest on U.S. 79. The multi-vehicle accident occurred in the intersection.
Beasley was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler, Michael D. Shepherd, 52, of Carthage, sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was taken to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall.
